Effect of Pod Removal on Leaf Senescence in Soybeans [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1982
Depodding soybean (Glycine max [L] Merr. cv Wye) plants results in an apparent inhibition of senescence as indicated by leaf chlorophyll and soluble protein retention. However, leaf photosynthesis and ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (Rubisco) levels begin to decline earlier in depodded than in control, podded plants.

Tolerance of Salsify (Tragopogon graminifolius) to Simulated Herbivory [PDF]

open access: yesIkufīziyuluzhī-i Giyāhān-i Zirā̒ī, 2014
The ability of plants to reduce the negative effects of leaf removal or simulated herbivory on their growth is defined as their tolerance. Tragopogon graminifolius is a herbaceous perennial weed distributed around the world.

Cluster-Zone Leaf Removal and GA3 Application at Early Flowering Reduce Bunch Compactness and Yield per Vine in Vitis vinifera cv. Pinot Gris

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2022
Compact bunches have been often associated with higher susceptibility to Botrytis cinerea and therefore reduction in berry quality in grapevine. The objective of this study was to evaluate three management methods (early leaf removal, gibberellic acid ...

Tomato Leaf Development and Distribution as Influenced by Leaf Removal and Decapitation [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1990
The influence of leaf removal and decapitation (removal of apical bud and top two nodes) of determinate tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill cv. Mountain Pride) plants on canopy development was investigated. Leaf removal and decapitation influenced subsequent leaf development and distribution, and early fruiting of greenhouse-grown tomato plants ...

DYESTUFF REMOVAL FROM SYNTHETIC TEXTILE WASTEWATER USING OLIVE LEAF

open access: yesBartın University International Journal of Natural and Applied Sciences, 2023
The textile industry is one of the sectors where water use is high. Textile wastewater contains a high percentage of dyestuffs. Dyestuffs prevent photosynthetic activities in water and disrupt the ecological balance in water. Treatment of dyestuffs is very important for the prevention of water pollution and for the health of living things.

Effects of leaf removal on aromatic precursor dynamics during maturation of Ribolla Gialla grapes (Vitis vinifera L.)

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2019
Leaf removal is a viticultural practice applied in order to improve fruit-zone microclimate and berry quality. The aim of this trial was to evaluate the effect of post-flowering leaf removal on maturation and biosynthesis of terpenes and and C13 ...

Cluster Thinning Improves Aroma Complexity of White Maraština (Vitis vinifera L.) Wines Compared to Defoliation under Mediterranean Climate

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Defoliation and cluster thinning are useful canopy management techniques to modulate grapevine carbon distribution and microclimate. Both techniques are directed to achieve the proper balance between fruit and foliage, and to maximize production of well ...
