Leaky-mode cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna
A cylindrical dielectric resonator (CDR) antenna, operating in leaky TM-modes, is presented. The antenna is composed of the CDR, short-circuited by parallel rectangular conducting plates. The radiation pattern depends on the size and shape of conducting plates.

Three-Dimensionally Confined Optical Modes in Quantum Well Microtube Ring Resonators
We report on microtube ring resonators with quantum wells embedded as an optically active material. Optical modes are observed over a broad energy range. Their properties strongly depend on the exact geometry of the microtube along its axis.

A two-level system that is coupled to a high-finesse cavity in the Purcell regime exhibits a giant optical non-linearity due to the saturation of the two-level system at very low intensities, of the order of one photon per lifetime. We perform a detailed

Objective: Discomfort and noncompliance with noninvasive ventilation (NIV) interfaces are obstacles to NIV success. Total face masks (TFMs) are considered to be a very comfortable NIV interface. However, due to their large internal volume and consequent

Design and Experimental Validation of an E-Band Wideband Bessel-Beam Launcher on Quartz
Radially periodic Bessel-beam launchers are typically fed with coaxial probes, as they provide a simple and effective means to obtain TM-polarized Bessel beams.

Leaky-mode channel-guide injection lasers
A new injection laser, the channel-guide (CG) laser, has been developed for leaky-mode operation. The devices are characterised by the stable, two-lobed far fields typical of leaky-mode operation and produce `kink-free? outputs to > 160 mW (40 ns pulse) from a 3 ?m stripe.

Application of Huygens’ Metasurfaces to the Arbitrary Design of a Leaky-Wave Antenna [PDF]
Leaky-wave antennas are guiding structures that leak power along their length. Their radiation is mainly characterized by the propagation constant (leakage factor and phase constant) of the traveling wave.

Frequency-Scanning Waveguide Antenna for Solar Radio Bursts Detection in the UHF Band
This paper proposes a frequency-scanning antenna designed to operate in the 400 MHz to 800 MHz band for solar radio astronomy applications. It is constructed with perforated metallic walls and cylinders, that form a rectangular leaky waveguide.
