Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Regional, rural and remote medicine attracts students with a similar approach to learning in both the Northern and Southern hemisphere

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circumpolar Health
Doctors who work in areas of workforce shortage, such as regional, rural and remote areas or areas of low socioeconomic means need to be more self-motivated, adaptable and self-directed than their metropolitan counterparts.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Learning Personalized End-to-End Goal-Oriented Dialog

open access: yesProceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2019
Most existing works on dialog systems only consider conversation content while neglecting the personality of the user the bot is interacting with, which begets several unsolved issues. In this paper, we present a personalized end-to-end model in an attempt to leverage personalization in goal-oriented dialogs.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Validation of a Measure of Learning and Performance Goal Orientations [PDF]

open access: yesEducational and Psychological Measurement, 1994
This study investigated the psychometric properties of an instrument (i.e., the Goals Inventory) that measured learning and performance goal orientations. Test-retest reliability estimates for the learning and performance goal scales were r = .73 and r = .76, respectively. Internal consistency estimates were assessed using Cronbach's alpha.
