Primary Human Tissue Models for Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Liver Disease ‐ toward Streamlining Drug Discovery with Patient‐Derived Assays

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The review provides a critical up‐to‐date overview of the current landscape of human in vitro models for fatty liver disease, including spheroids, organoids, organ‐on‐a‐chip systems, bioprinted liver constructs and precision‐cut liver slices. Their utility for faithfully modeling different stages of MASLD and MASH are evaluated and their compatibility ...

Learning more from crossing levels: Investigating agility at three levels of the organization

open access: yes, 2018
Scholars have tried to explain how organizations can build agile teams by only looking at one level of analysis. We argue in this short paper that lessons can be learned from organizational science results explaining variance on three different ...

X‐Ray Computed Tomography Quantifies Primary Phases and Reveals Crack Morphology in High‐Cycle Fatigue of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.

Off-line processing: reciprocal interactions between declarative and procedural memories [PDF]

open access: yes
The acquisition of declarative (i.e., facts) and procedural (i.e., skills) memories may be supported by independent systems. This same organization may exist, after memory acquisition, when memories are processed off-line during consolidation ...

First‐Principles Modeling of Solid Solution Softening and Hardening Effects in Al–Mg–Zr–Si Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The role of various alloying elements in face‐centered cubic aluminum on the barrier of a Shockley partial dislocation during its motion is presented. The study aims to understand how alloying atoms such as Mg, Si, and Zr affect the energy landscape for dislocation motion, thus influencing the solid solution hardening and softening in aluminum, which ...
