On random least-square analysis
AbstractDispersion in the output data of a system can be analyzed as either noise fluctuations about a deterministic model or as the noise with added fluctuations due to randomness in the model itself. This latter interpretation finds applications in the identification of inherently random systems which provide rational models for systems such as ...

Object Tracking via Partial Least Squares Analysis [PDF]
We propose an object tracking algorithm that learns a set of appearance models for adaptive discriminative object representation. In this paper, object tracking is posed as a binary classification problem in which the correlation of object appearance and class labels from foreground and background is modeled by partial least squares (PLS) analysis, for

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Error analysis of a least squares pseudo-derivative moving least squares method [PDF]
Meshfree methods offer the potential to relieve the scientist from the time consuming grid generation process especially in cases where localized mesh refinement is desired. Moving least squares (MLS) methods are considered such a meshfree technique.

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Geomagnetic lunar analysis by least-squares [PDF]
Summary. A simple and accurate method is presented for the determination of lunar and solar harmonic terms present in a series of geomagnetic data. It is based on least-squares and incorporates a direct means for determining the confidence limits. The method is tested by applying it to a series of artificially generated data, and comparing the results ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

A High-Resolution Spectral Analysis Method Based on Fast Iterative Least Squares Constraints
The prediction of reservoir and caprock thickness is important in geological evaluations for site selection for aquifer underground gas storage. Therefore, high-resolution seismic identification of reservoirs and caprocks is crucial. High-resolution time–

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
