Tracking the impact of bottom trawling on benthic habitat status

Abstract Bottom trawling is the most widespread physical disturbance to marine benthic habitats, yet broadscale assessments of its impact remain limited. We developed a quantitative framework to evaluate trawling effects on benthic habitats at broad spatial scales based on the sentinels of seabed (SoS) indicator.

Sex‐Specific Atlantic Salmon Upstream Passage and Fallback at a Natural Cascade After Dam Removal

ABSTRACT In the Boquet River (NY, USA) a low‐head dam set above a ~200‐m bedrock cascade was removed in 2015. We used radio‐telemetry to assess landlocked Atlantic salmon passage at the remaining cascade (2020, 2022). Across years, 52% of males (13/25) attempted cascade passage whereas females made no discernable attempts (0/11).

Stigma, self‐styling and ‘forced accents’ among English L2 speakers in Spain

Abstract This paper examines the relationship between shame, stigma and accent for non‐native English speakers in Spain. The low English competence of the Spanish population frequently constitutes a source of individual and collective stigma – which includes the apparent undesirability of Spanish‐sounding English.
