Covalent Activation of the C‐type Lectin DC‐SIGN

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition
Abstract Dendritic cell‐specific intercellular adhesion molecule‐3‐grabbing non‐integrin (DC‐SIGN) is a C‐type lectin receptor expressed on antigen‐presenting cells, crucial for pathogen recognition and immune modulation. The shallow and polar carbohydrate binding site of DC‐SIGN presents challenges for ligand design.

Lebectin and lebecetin, two C-type lectins from snake venom, inhibit alpha5beta1 and alphaV-containing integrins

open access: yes, 2007
International audienceIntegrins are essential protagonists in the complex multistep process of cancer progression and metastasis. We recently reported that lebectin, a novel C-type lectin from Macrovipera lebetina venom, displays an anti-integrin ...

Ratiometric pH‐Responsive and Biomimetic Microparticles for Quantitative Monitoring of Phagosomal Acidification

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A series of hydrosoluble BODIPY pH probes allows building biomimetic pH sensors based on micrometric oil‐in‐water droplets. The ratiometric fluorescence output offers quantitative information on the evolution of pH during phagosome maturation. ABSTRACT We present a modular biomimetic fluorescent sensing platform designed to precisely interrogate the ...

Secondary Sites of the C‐type Lectin‐Like Fold

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal
AbstractC‐type lectins are a large superfamily of proteins involved in a multitude of biological processes. In particular, their involvement in immunity and homeostasis has rendered them attractive targets for diverse therapeutic interventions. They share a characteristic C‐type lectin‐like domain whose adaptability enables them to bind a broad ...

RORγt‐APCs: The New Masters of Oral Tolerance

open access: yesBarrier Immunity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Oral tolerance is defined by the hypo‐responsiveness of our body to fed antigens, and its failure can lead to immune‐mediated diseases, such as allergy, chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Decades of research have demonstrated that antigen‐presenting cells (APCs) promote oral tolerance by inducing regulatory T cells (Tregs) and/or ...

Characterization of two groups of Spodoptera exigua Hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) C-type lectins and insights into their role in defense against the densovirus JcDV

open access: yes, 2017
Insect innate immunity relies on numerous soluble and membrane-bound receptors, named pattern recognition proteins (PRPs), which enable the insect to recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns.

Oogenesis and germinal bed morphology of the brown anole (A. sagrei)

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The brown anole is a model species of the genus Anolis, a squamate (encompassing lizards and snakes) group widely studied in evolutionary, behavioral, and developmental biology. Full genome annotation, the establishment of gene editing techniques, and comprehensive description of reproductive tract morphology and embryogenesis in ...
