In vitro muscle contraction: A technical review on electrical pulse stimulation in C2C12 cells
Abstract Electrical pulse stimulation (EPS) of skeletal muscle cells is increasingly used to model exercise In vitro. The murine C2C12 myotube system has become a common platform for such studies, yet wide variability in EPS protocols hampers reproducibility and cross‐study comparisons.

The role of agomelatine in appetite regulation and body weight in rats
Abstract The hypothalamic nuclei play a central role in the synthesis of anorexigenic and orexigenic neuropeptides, which are regulated by peripheral hormones, like leptin and ghrelin. Melatonergic receptors (MT1/MT2) are prominently expressed in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus – an essential hub for appetite control – and in peripheral ...

Cerebral haemodynamic responses to inspiratory muscle work
Abstract Fatiguing inspiratory work has been shown to evoke a sympathetically mediated reflex that has systemic cardiovascular consequences, including increases in heart rate and blood pressure and a decrease in resting limb vascular conductance. Moreover, the response to this reflex appears to be attenuated in females compared with males.

How do physiological networks respond to normobaric hypoxia and isometric exercise?
Abstract The dynamics of physiological systems are impacted by both exercise and hypoxia. Network models can be used to map the interactions between various physiological components in environmental physiology and exercise using the concepts of information theory.
