On the botanical history and nomenclature of the New World genus Piscidia (Fabaceae)
Piscidia L. (Fabaceae) is a New World genus with nine recognized taxa (seven species and two varieties). The previous nomenclatural revisions, made in 1910 and in 1969, are revisited here. The names Derris grandifolia Heyde & Lux ex Donn.Sm. and P. cubensis Urb. required step II lectotypifications, with an epitype for the latter name.

ABSTRACT Objective This study assessed changes in body composition and 24‐h energy metabolism at 6 and 12 months after initiation of a 1‐month very low‐calorie ketogenic diet (VLCKD) in women with obesity. Methods Seventeen women with obesity who completed a 1‐month VLCKD underwent a 4‐week transition phase with carbohydrate reintroduction, followed by

Comparison of radiocesium root uptake by leguminous and non-leguminous herbaceous plants
Transfer of radiocesium from soil to plant is an important factor for radiation dose assessments. Previously, a greenhouse experiment showed that 137Cs concentrations in soybean beans were higher than that in wheat grain (Adriano et al., J. Plant Nutr.

Many mechanisms can lead to successful plant invasion, but their importance is often context dependent. One such mechanism is allelopathy: chemical inhibition of neighbouring plants. The importance of allelopathy may be mediated by soil microbiota and environmental conditions, and depend upon the species or functional group affected.
