Nurses’ shift length and overtime working in 12 European countries: the association with perceived quality of care and patient safety [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Despite concerns as to whether nurses can perform reliably and effectively when working longer shifts, a pattern of two 12- to 13-hour shifts per day is becoming common in many hospitals to reduce shift to shift handovers, staffing overlap ...

Length-weight and length-length relationships of 16 marine fish species in Vietnam

open access: yesOcean and Coastal Research
In this study, the length-weight relationships (LWRs) and length-length relationships (LLRs) of 16 marine fish species-important component of fishery production models-were estimated. The specimens were collected monthly from commercial gillnet fisheries from November 6, 2018 to October 30, 2019 in Vietnamese waters.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Length-to-Size Ratio as Function of Size.

open access: yes
Ratio of centerline length to radial size ℓ. For the relationship indicating a linear scaling between axial length and cross-sectional circular radius, we obtain c = 16.6±2.4. The yellow symbols indicate selected aortas shown in Fig 7A.

Word length effects are not due to proactive interference

open access: yes, 2002
[Abstract]: In immediate serial recall short words are better recalled than long words. The word length effect has become pivotal in the development of short-term memory models.

The Length-Weight, Length-Length Relationship and Condition Factor of Angora Loach, Oxynoemacheilus angorae (Steindachner, 1897) Inhabiting Kılıçözü Stream in Kızılırmak River Basin (Central Anatolia-Turkey)

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2016
In this study, length-weight relationship (LWR), length- length relationship (LLR) and condition factor (K) of Angora loach, Oxynoemacheilus angorae were determined. A total of 103 specimens were sampled from Kılıçözü Stream in 2014.

Length-Length and Length-Weight Relationships in Nephrops norvegicus from the Aegean Sea (Linnaeus, 1758)

open access: yesMediterranean Marine Science, 2011
The objective of this study was to determine the length-length, length-width and length-weight relationships inNephrops norvegicus as a basis for conversions. A total of 659 specimens were collected with trawl gears from the commercial trawler “Hapuloğlu” between 17 and 21 August 2008 in international waters of the middle Aegean Sea.

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Integrative annotation of 21,037 human genes validated by full-length cDNA clones

open access: yes, 2004
The human genome sequence defines our inherent biological potential; the realization of the biology encoded therein requires knowledge of the function of each gene. Currently, our knowledge in this area is still limited.
