Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Self Limiting Therapy in Deep Dentinal Lesions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The series of studies described in this thesis were primarily designed to expose the complex environment of deep dentinal lesions. The therapeutic end point dilemma during deep dentinal lesions excavation, the high rate of restorative regimes failure ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Baseline low-grade systemic inflammation and risk of hospitalized venous thromboembolism: A UK Biobank cohort study

open access: yesThrombosis Update
Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major vascular disease associated with substantial morbidity and mortality worldwide. Chronic low-grade systemic inflammation has been implicated in thrombus formation, yet its long-term association with ...

Objective localisation of oral mucosal lesions using optical coherence tomography. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDIdentification of the most representative location for biopsy is critical in establishing the definitive diagnosis of oral mucosal lesions. Currently, this process involves visual evaluation of the colour characteristics of tissue aided by topical ...

Endodontic management of endodontic-periodontal lesions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Endodontic-periodontal lesions can be challenging for the dentists nowadays due to close connection of pulp and periodontium as well as the similar signs and symptoms.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The Relationship of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Lesions and Osteochondral Lesions with Meniscal Tears in Patients Younger than Fifty Years of Age [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) lesions and osteochondral lesions according to type and localization of the meniscal tear and age, gender in patients who have been arthroscopicaly treated,

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Effects of light intensity in different stocking densities on tibial measurements and incidence of lesions in broilers [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology in Animal Husbandry, 2019
The possibility for use of high light intensity in broiler production management to improve the health of broilers' legs was examined in a study aiming to determine the effect of two levels of light intensity in different stocking densities of broiler ...
