A program for a small digital computer was developed to calculate the median lethal dose (LD50) and its errors. The algorithm employed in the program was based on a method described by Bliss. Modifications introduced by Finney are also discussed. The results indicate a high degree of accuracy compared with calculations performed by Bliss.

The lethal heat dose for 50% primary human fibroblast cell death is 48 °C
Archives of Dermatological Research, 2021Understanding the effect of heat on skin cells is important for the prevention of burn injury. Knowledge of the heat dose required to kill cells can be used to study the cellular mechanisms involved in thermal injury cell death, to assist with the development of novel burn treatments. In this study, primary human skin dermal fibroblasts were exposed to

Cofactors such as stress have been suspected to play a role in the susceptibility to opportunistic infections. Toxoplasma gondii is one of the major opportunistic infectious agents in immunocompromised individuals, and infection can be modulated by external factors such as stress. The purpose of this study was to examine the in vivo and in vitro role of

AbstractThe approximiate lethal dose (ALD) to rats following oral administration of nine chemicals was determined. The ALD (lowest dose at which death was produced) for each chemical was used to define the general order of toxicity as being either extremely, highly, moderately, slightly, or practically non‐toxic.

We aimed to investigate median lethal dose (LD(50)) and hypoglycemic effect of Thymus fallax F. leaves essential oil (TF) on healthy and diabetic mice. TF, glibenclamide (as a reference group) and isotonic saline solution (ISS) (control group) were administrated to the healthy and alloxan-induced diabetic mice.
