Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

Anthrax Lethal Factor Investigated by Molecular Simulations

open access: yes, 2016
The anthrax disease is caused by the lethal toxin secreted by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. The toxin is a protein aggregate which contains a Zn-based hydrolase called anthrax Lethal Factor (LF).

Lignin Mimicking Protein Methylation Augments the Efficacy of FOLFOX Chemotherapy by Anchoring Thymidylate Synthase

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Lignin‐mimicking protein methylation can enhance the efficacy and mitigate the toxicity of the classic FOLFOX chemotherapy regimen. ABSTRACT FOLFOX has served as the standard chemotherapy regimen for advanced stages, specifically in the treatment of pancreatic, colorectal, and bladder cancers.

A Geometrically Transient Platform for Bioelectronic Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Minimally invasive bioelectronic implants often compromise performance for smaller sizes. To resolve this optimization dilemma, a wireless bioelectronic implant with a transient geometry is introduced (MiFi). The origami‐inspired device miniaturizes up to sixfold for syringe insertion and autonomously unfolds post‐implantation.

Nuclear Pore Mechanotransduction in Oncology: A Structural Axis of Vulnerability for Targeted Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated NPC remodeling creates a high‐flux, low‐stringency nuclear state that supports malignant adaptation but increases mechanical fragility. Targeting the FG‐barrier or NPC scaffold may drive mechanostat failure, envelope rupture, DNA damage, and loss of nuclear integrity.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Inherited Lethal Genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1942
A type of factor or gene which produces so drastic an effect as to cause the death of the individual, usually during gestation or shortly following parturition is known as a lethal factor.

Inhibition of anthrax toxins with a bispecific monoclonal antibody that cross reacts with edema factor as well as lethal factor of Bacillus anthracis

open access: yes, 2011
Bacillus anthracis overwhelms its victims by way of two toxins, namely edema toxin and lethal toxin. Lethal toxin is formed by the combination of protective antigen with lethal factor while edema toxin is formed by the combination of Protective Antigen ...
