The genetics of blind—a lethal factor in mice
Journal of Heredity, 1978The linkage relationships of the lethal gene blind (Bld) in the mouse were investigated. The gene is located on chromosome 15, between uw and bt. The distance uw--Bld is 28.2 +/- 5.1 cM: Bld--bt is 14.9 +/- 2.7 cM: and Bld--Ca is 24.6 +/- 2.6 cM. Incomplete penetrance and/or reduced viability of Bld/+ animals was found when blind animals were crossed ...

Apoptosis-inducing factor: vital and lethal
Trends in Cell Biology, 2006Apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) is a NADH oxidase with a local redox function that is essential for optimal oxidative phosphorylation and for an efficient anti-oxidant defense. The absence of AIF can cause neurodegeneration, skeleton muscle atrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy.

Additional risk factors for lethal hypothermia
Journal of Forensic and Legal Medicine, 2013An 86-year-old woman was found dead lying on her back on the floor of an unkempt kitchen. She had last been seen four days before. Her dress was pulled up and she was not wearing underpants. The house was noted to be in "disarray" with papers covering most surfaces and the floor. Rubbish was piled up against one of the doors.

Developmental Action of Lethal Factors in Drosophila
1951Publisher Summary Lethal factors are Mendelian units that cause the death of an individual at some stage during its development, thereby preventing it from reaching the reproductive stage. The action of lethal factors demonstrates how development can be altered fundamentally as a consequence of change or loss of genic material.

LETHAL FACTORS IN BILE PERITONITIS
Archives of Surgery, 1936The mechanism of death in bile peritonitis has puzzled investigators for a number of years. Although the condition is rare clinically, its theoretical implications warrant a thorough consideration. In the present paper certain findings are reported that indicate that one of the lethal factors in bile peritonitis is a disturbance of fluid balance in the
