Plasma cell leukemia mimicking hairy cell leukemia

open access: yesHematology/Oncology and Stem Cell Therapy, 2015
A42-year-old female presented with fever and shortness of breath, and was diagnosed with community acquired pneumonia. On presentation she was found to have a white cell count of 13 · 10/L, hemoglobin of 7.1 g/dL and platelets of 51 · 10/L. Cryocrystalglobulinemia in hairy cell leukemia [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1978
A patient with hairy cell leukemia (leukemic reticuloendotheliosis) was noted to have a spurious leukocytosis caused by a spontaneously crystallizing cryoglobulin. The cryoprotein was identified as IgG lambda. An intracytoplasmic immunoglobulin demonstrable within the hairy cell was also IgG lambda.

Detection of BRAF mutations in patients with hairy cell leukemia and related lymphoproliferative disorders

open access: yesHaematologica, 2012
Hairy cell leukemia has been shown to be strongly associated with the BRAF V600E mutation. We screened 59 unenriched archived bone marrow aspirate and peripheral blood samples from 51 patients with hairy cell leukemia using high resolution melting ...
