A rare case of appendicular skeleton localization in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia successfully treated with salvage radiation therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Bone involvements in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) are considered rare events, and the English-language medical literature describes them only in sporadic case reports. Consequently, robust indications for a rational clinical management are lacking.

Combination Immunotherapy as a Promising Strategy to Overcome Immunotherapy Resistance: From Emergence to Next‐Generation Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review examines emerging combination immunotherapy strategies tailored to distinct tumor microenvironments and highlights next‐generation biomarkers that guide response prediction and treatment personalization. It integrates lessons from unsuccessful trials, addresses toxicity challenges, and outlines approaches for early biomarker discovery and ...

Macrophage Extracellular Traps in Immunity and Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a macrophage‐mediated innate defense mechanism, the dysregulated release of METs drives chronic inflammation and influences tumor progression. Furthermore, METs exhibit a functional duality within the tumor microenvironment, capable of both promoting and suppressing tumor development.

Deregulated Levels of the NF-κB1, NF-κB2, and Rel Genes in Ukrainian Patients with Leukemia and Lymphoma in the Post-Chernobyl Period

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Hematology, 2016
INTRODUCTION: Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) is an important transcription factor in cancer and NF-κB activation has been seen in angiogenesis, tumor progression, and metastasis.

RENAL‐CHIP: Rejection Evaluation via Non‐Invasive Analysis of Circulating Podocytes With Herringbone‐Chip Isolation Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RENAL‐CHIP converts 1 mL of peripheral blood into a biopsy‐equivalent readout of renal‐allograft fate. By magnetic capture and release of donor‐derived circulating podocytes through a herringbone microfluidic chip, 84% capture, 96% release and single‐cell RNA evidence of rejection‐specific immunity are achieved.

Blinatumomab induces autologous T-cell killing of chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells

open access: yesHaematologica, 2013
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is an incurable B-cell malignancy that is associated with tumor cell-mediated T-cell dysfunction. It therefore represents a challenging disease for T-cell immunotherapeutics.

Heparin Induces Apoptosis in Lymphocytes from B-cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

open access: yesHematology, 1998
It has been shown that glycosaminoglycans play a role in the regulation of immune response. In particular, heparin exerts an antiproliferative and apoptotic action in different cellular systems. In this study we evaluate whether heparin can also induce a naturally occurring programmed cell death in lymphocytes from B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL)

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Clonal heterogeneity in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells: superior response to surface IgM cross-linking in CD38, ZAP-70-positive cells

open access: yesHaematologica, 2008
Background Patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia whose cells express CD38 and ZAP-70 and utilize unmutated Ig VH region genes have a very poor prognosis. We studied whether cells expressing CD38 and ZAP-70 are more susceptible to stimulation through

Stage IV Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma Presenting with Unilateral Vision Loss

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine, 2020
Small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) is a manifestation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in which malignant B-cell lymphocytes accumulate in the lymph nodes or bone marrow. In this report, we describe the medical course of a patient diagnosed with stage
