Gene expression and splicing alterations analyzed by high throughput RNA sequencing of chronic lymphocytic leukemia specimens. [PDF]

open access: yes
BackgroundTo determine differentially expressed and spliced RNA transcripts in chronic lymphocytic leukemia specimens a high throughput RNA-sequencing (HTS RNA-seq) analysis was performed.MethodsTen CLL specimens and five normal peripheral blood CD19+ B ...

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

Clonal heterogeneity in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells: superior response to surface IgM cross-linking in CD38, ZAP-70-positive cells

open access: yesHaematologica, 2008
Background Patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia whose cells express CD38 and ZAP-70 and utilize unmutated Ig VH region genes have a very poor prognosis. We studied whether cells expressing CD38 and ZAP-70 are more susceptible to stimulation through

Stage IV Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma Presenting with Unilateral Vision Loss

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine, 2020
Small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) is a manifestation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in which malignant B-cell lymphocytes accumulate in the lymph nodes or bone marrow. In this report, we describe the medical course of a patient diagnosed with stage

Upregulation of long noncoding RNA MIAT in aggressive form of chronic lymphocytic leukemias. [PDF]

open access: yes
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are non-proten-coding transcripts of more than 200 nucleotides generated by RNA polymerase II and their expressions are tightly regulated in cell type specific- and/or cellular differential stage specific- manner.

Enhancing CAR‐T Cell Efficacy in Solid Tumors by Inhibiting CCL5/VEGF‐Mediated Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that CAR‐T cells in solid tumors produce CCL5, which paradoxically induces VEGF and angiogenesis to promote tumor growth. Blocking CCL5/VEGF signaling—through gene knockout, or the CCR5 inhibitor maraviroc—significantly enhances the antitumor efficacy of CAR‑T therapy (the diagram was created in Biorender).

Coexistence of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and polycythemia vera: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesAnnals of Saudi Medicine, 2016
Polycythemia vera is a Philadelphia chromosome-negative myeloproliferative neoplasm. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia is a monoclonal expansion of a CD5+ CD19+ B lymphocytes.

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Doxorubicin has a synergistic cytotoxicity with cucurbitacin B in anaplastic thyroid carcinoma cells

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
In this study, the combined effect of doxorubicin with cucurbitacin B on survival of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma cells was evaluated. For experiments, 8505C and CAL62 human anaplastic thyroid carcinoma cells were used.
