Polyomaviruses BK and JC DNA infection in peripheral blood cells from blood donors
Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of human polyomavirus (BK and JC viruses) infection in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy blood donors. Methods: The study included 250 healthy blood donors.

Modulation of human lymphocyte function by C3a and C3a(70-77). [PDF]
Human C3a and the synthetic octapeptide C3a (70-77), which retains the activities of an anaphylatoxin, inhibit in a concentration-dependent manner the generation of leukocyte inhibitory factor (LIF) activity by human mononuclear leukocytes and T ...

-Adrenoceptor Changes in Mononuclear Leukocytes During Pregnancy
Leukocyte beta 2-adrenoceptors mirror similar receptors in the uterus. This study examined changes in beta 2-adrenoceptors and in cAMP production during pregnancy using peripheral mononuclear leukocytes isolated from 17 pregnant women and 5 nonpregnant controls. beta 2-Adrenoceptor density was determined by 125I-pindolol binding.

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. A histopathologic evaluation of gross lesions excised from commercially important North Altantic marine fishes [PDF]
Histopathologic studies of lesions found in commercially important North Atlantic marine fishes are uncommon. As part of a comprehensive Northeast Fisheries Center program ("Ocean Pulse") to evaluate environmental and resource health on the U.S ...

Relationship between the peroxidation of leukocytes index ratio and the improvement of postprandial metabolic stress by a functional food [PDF]
For the first time, we investigated the relationship between postprandial dysmetabolism and the Peroxidation of Leukocytes Index Ratio (PLIR), a test that measures the resistance of leukocytes to exogenous oxidative stress and their functional capacity ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Bradykinin-inactivating activity of mononuclear leukocytes.
Bradykinin-inactivating activity of mononuclear leukocytes was examined using guinea-pig macrophages and lymphocytes. Intact macrophages rapidly inactivated bradykinin. Bradykinin-inactivating activity of macrophages was present in the membrane and cytosol fractions but not in the nuclear and granular fractions.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
