Leukotriene B4 in Hemodialysis

Artificial Organs, 1990
Abstract: Leukotrienes are eicosanoids arising from arachidonic acid via 5 lipooxygenase, an enzyme essentially present in leukocyte cells. Leukotriene B4 might be an indicator of neutropolymorphonuclear leukocyte activation when there is contact with artificial membranes.

Human monocytes convert leukotriene B4 to two dihydro-leukotriene B4-metabolites

Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Essential Fatty Acids, 1989
Human monocytes metabolize LTB4 by an additional pathway different from omega-oxidation. Reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography showed four metabolites: 20-COOH-LTB4, 20-OH-LTB4 and two metabolites less polar than LTB4 with an UV maximum at 232 nm.

Inhibition of leukotriene B4-induced neutrophil degranulation by leukotriene B4-dimethylamide

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1982
Abstract Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a potent mediator of pro-inflammatory responses including neutrophil degranulation. Leukotriene B4 dimethylamide has been synthesized and shown to inhibit neutrophil degranulation induced by LTB4. The inhibition required time to develop (∼60 secs), and had a KD of circa 2 × 10−7M, and occurred at concentrations where

Leukotriene B4 and oral cancer

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1990
The quantitation of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) in induced squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the Syrian hamster cheek pouch and histologically proven human oral SCC was investigated by a combination of reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and radioimmunoassay (RIA). Healthy tissue obtained from these same patients and animals treated

Leukotriene B4 and inflammatory disease

Agents and Actions, 1988
Polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNL) are prominent at sites of acute inflammation. Their infiltration is stimulated under pathological conditions by a variety of agents which include bacteria, immune complexes and complement derived chemotactic peptides.

Leukotriene B4 and Kawasaki Disease

Pediatrics International, 1991
The role of LTB4 in Kawasaki disease as a chemo‐attractant and immunomodulator is reviewed through our own experience and reports by other invenstigators. In our experiment using 19 patients, we measured calcium ionophore‐stimulated LTB4 synthesis in PMNs obtained in three different stages of the illness (acute, convalescent and recovered phases). LTB4

A radioimmunoassay for leukotriene B4

Prostaglandins, 1982
A radioimmunoassay for leukotriene B4 has been developed. The assay is sensitive; 5 pg LTB4 caused significant inhibition of binding of [3H]-LTB4 and 50% displacement occurred with 30 pg. The specificity of the assay has been critically examined; prostaglandins, thromboxane B2 and arachidonic acid do not exhibit detectable cross-reactions (less than 0 ...

Preparation of the leukotriene B4 analog; 13,13-difluoro-leukotriene B4

Tetrahedron Letters, 1988
Abstract The procedure for the synthesis of 13,13-difluoro-leukotriene B 4 [(5S,12S)-5,12-Dihydroxy-6,14-cis-8,10-trans-Eicosatetraenoic Acid] is discribed.

Leukotriene B3, leukotriene B4 and leukotriene B5; Binding to leukotriene B4 receptors on rat and human leukocyte membranes

Prostaglandins, 1986
Specific high-affinity binding sites for [3H]-leukotriene B4 have been identified on membrane preparations from rat and human leukocytes. The rat and human leukocyte membrane preparations show linearity of binding with increasing protein concentration, saturable binding and rapid dissociation of binding by excess unlabelled leukotriene B4. Dissociation

Leukotriene B4 Receptors

2015
Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a classical pro-inflammatory lipid mediator that activates and recruits neutrophils into inflammatory areas. LTB4 is an arachidonic acid-derived metabolite produced by 5-lipoxygenase and LTA4 hydrolase. To date, two leukotriene B4 receptors, the high-affinity receptor BLT1 and the low-affinity receptor BLT2, have been cloned ...
