Pathology International, 1996
Recent studies have Identified that much antigens and Lewis X (Lex)‐related antigens behave like oncodevelopmental tumor‐asnoclated antigens in several human adenocarcino‐mas. However, the expression of these antigens In pharyn‐geal and latyngeal squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) and in the precursor lesion is not fully elucidated yet.

Differential expression of Lewisx and sialyl‐Lewisx antigens in fetal human neural cells in culture
Journal of Neuroscience Research, 1994AbstractLewisx is a cell‐surface carbohydrate antigen defined by the trisaccharide structure, Galβ 1→4 (Fucα 1→3) GlcNAc. Expression of Lewisx and sialyl‐Lewisx antigens in primary cell cultures isolated from fetal human brains of 12‐15 weeks gestation was investigated by double immunolabelling with antibodies against monomeric Lewisx (4C9), oligomeric

Glycoconjugate Journal, 1998
Glycoproteins from the ruminant helminthic parasite Haemonchus contortus react with Lotus tetragonolobus agglutinin and Wisteria floribunda agglutinin, which are plant lectins that recognize alpha1,3-fucosylated GlcNAc and terminal beta-GalNAc residues, respectively.

Expression of Lewisxand LewisyBlood Group Related Antigens in Fetal Livers
Pediatric Pathology, 1990Aberrant expression of blood group antigens has been observed in human cancers. Lewis(x) (Le(x)) and Lewis(y) (Le(y)) antigens are usually absent from parenchymal cells in the adult human liver, but frequently expressed on cholangiocarcinomas and less frequently on hepatocellular carcinomas.

Expression of nm23-H1 Gene and Sialyl Lewis X Antigen in Breast Cancer
Oncology, 1998The nm23 gene has been proposed as a candidate tumor metastasis suppressor in some human cancers. Sialyl Lewis X (sLex) has been demonstrated to play an important role in the adhesion of human cancer cells to human vascular endothelium, inducing metastasis.

Lewis System and the Antigens X and Y
1995The detection of the Le a character is generally attributed to Mourant [191], although Ueyama and Furuhata had described it as the ’T-antigen’ in 1939 (see Race and Sanger [212]). Since then the Le b [5,6], Le c [88], Le d [208], and Le x [7] characters of the blood group Lewis system have also been defined(1).

Enhanced Bladder Cancer Detection with the Lewis X Antigen as a Marker of Neoplastic Transformation
Journal of Urology, 1990Recent evidence indicates that the Lewis X determinant is a tumor-associated antigen in the urothelium. Immunohistochemical analyses on frozen and deparaffinized, formalin-fixed tissue sections have demonstrated that the Lewis X antigen is not detected in normal adult urothelium except for occasional umbrella cells. However, papillomas and transitional

The Lewis X antigen. A new paraffin section marker for reed–sternberg cells
Cancer, 1991Using a monoclonal antibody specific to the Lewis X antigen (anti-Lex), the authors studied 103 cases of Hodgkin's disease (HD) in comparison with 57 cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL); three cases of granulocytic sarcoma (GS); two cases of malignant histiocytosis (MH); one case of monoblastic leukemia (ML); one case of interdigitating reticulum ...

Antigen coupled with Lewis-x trisaccharides elicits potent immune responses in mice
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2007Glycoproteins containing Lewis-x (Le(x)) trisaccharides are often associated with the host's adaptive T(H)2-type immunity, but the mechanisms underlying the T(H)2-biased response are at present unclear. The modulatory effect of Le(x) or its glycoconjugates on IgE/T(H)2 responses was investigated. The levels of serum antibodies and cytokines were analyzed

Delayed Separation of the Umbilical Cord and Partial Deficiency of Sialyl Lewis X Antigen
Neonatology, 1999A 5-week-old male infant presented with failure of separation of the umbilical cord. He was evaluated for the presence of integrin and selectin ligand leukocyte adhesion molecules on his neutrophils and monocytes. Integrin molecules appeared to be normally expressed, but expression of sialyl Lewis X (sLex) was decreased.
