Showcasing life cycle management

open access: yes
Industries following a linear approach assume that ‘if they produce more, they will sell more’. As new trends in production and consumption models emerge due to growing social, environmental and economic pressures, the linear approach is being replaced ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Environment-oriented Assessments for the Life Cycle Engineering

open access: yes, 2022
S.264-275The challenges of an ecological Life Cycle Engineering requires the optimization of the processes and products concerned. Environment-oriented assessments are a pre-condition for deriving optimization potentials and design requirements for ...

Frailty associated with nutritional status, functionality, physical activity and socioeconomic level, in older adults in Ecuador, post-pandemic

open access: yesBMC Geriatrics
Background Aging is a complex, multifactorial process in which nutritional alterations, sedentary lifestyle, and chronic diseases can increase the risk of functional limitations, dependence, and disability in older adults.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

The LIFE project research review: mapping the landscape, riding a life cycle

open access: yes, 2005
The LIFE project research review investigates both life cycle costing and digital preservation, with a view to creating a useable life cycle costing model that can be applied to digital preservation within an HE/FE environment.
