Daily cycle in oxygen consumption by the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis Stephenson
In bilaterian animals, the circadian clock is intimately involved in regulating energetic metabolism. Although cnidarians exhibit diel behavioral rhythms including cycles in locomotor activity, tentacle extension and spawning, daily cycles in cnidarian ...

Achieving a holistic view of the life cycle performance of existing dwellings
Models which fully evaluate the life cycle energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of national housing stocks are not reported in literature. Capturing a holistic view of energy and emissions of the residential sector is an important process that can ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

The Effect of Light on the Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle in Green Leaves [PDF]
Excised green leaves of mung bean (Phaseolus aureus L. var. Mungo) were used to determine the effect of light on the rate of endogenous respiration via the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Illumination with white light at an intensity of 0.043 gram calories cm(-2)min(-1) (approximately 8600 lux) of visible radiation (400-700 nm) gave a rate of apparent ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Queues for a Fixed-Cycle Traffic Light
In their book Studies in the Economics of Transportation, Beckmann, McGuire and Winsten (BMW) ([2], pp. 11-13, 40-42) proposed a simple queuing model for traffic flow through a fixed-cycle traffic light. Although they derived a relation between the average delay per car and the average length of the queue at the beginning of a red phase of the light ...

Pelagic barite formation, dissolution, and preservation: contextualizing a marine carbon cycle proxy [PDF]
The marine carbon cycle is a major driver of global climate. Reliable marine carbon cycle proxies are required to study the relationship between life in the ocean and climate in the past and to predict how the marine carbon cycle may change in the future.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
