Toward the Light Field Display: Autostereoscopic Rendering via a Cluster of Projectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Ultimately, a display device should be capable of reproducing the visual effects that are produced by reality. In this paper we introduce an autostereoscopic display that uses a scalable array of digital light projectors and a projection screen augmented

Synthetic nano-kirigami with high deformability for reconfigurable information displays

open access: yesNature Communications
Transformable micro/nanostructures endow optical and mechanical metamaterials with customization and tunability. However, employing existing transformation mechanisms to achieve large mechanical deformations remains challenging due to the restricted ...

A Sparse Capture Light-Field Coding Algorithm Based on Target Pixel Matching for a Multi-Projector-Type Light-Field Display System

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The traditional light-field coding algorithm used in a multi-projector-type light-field display system requires sophisticated and complex three-dimensional modeling processes or parallax images obtained through dense capture. Here we propose an algorithm

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The optics of an autostereoscopic multiview display [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An autostereoscopic head-tracked back projection display that uses an RGB laser illumination source and a fast light engine is described. Images are horizontally scanned columns controlled by a spatial light modulator that directs two or more images in ...

High-Precision Polishing of Fused Silica Microfluidic Chips via CO2 Laser

open access: yesMicromachines
To address the severe surface imperfections induced during ultrafast pulsed laser fabrication of fused silica microfluidic chips, a high-precision CO2 laser polishing strategy based on shallow-layer melting and reflow was employed.

Large-scale metagrating complex-based light field 3D display with space-variant resolution for non-uniform distribution of information and energy

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2023
Glasses-free three-dimensional (3D) display has attracted wide interest for providing stereoscopic virtual contents with depth cues. However, how to achieve high spatial and angular resolution while keeping ultrawide field of view (FOV) remains a ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

LightBee:A Self-Levitating Light Field Display for Hologrammatic Telepresence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
LightBee is a novel “hologrammatic” telepresence system featuring a self-levitating light field display. It consists of a drone that flies a projection of a remote user’s head through 3D space. The movements of the drone are controlled by the remote user’

Silicon nano-kirigami with controlled plastic, elastic and hysteretic deformations

open access: yesNature Communications
Nano-kirigami, inspired by the art of paper cutting and folding, offers a promising approach to three-dimensional (3D) nanomanufacturing by simply transforming two-dimensional (2D) precursors into complex 3D architectures. Here we report a profound study
