MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Gigantic jet discharges evolve stepwise through the middle atmosphere

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Gigantic jets, lightning discharges originating from tropical thunderstorms that can reach the base of the ionosphere at 90 km altitude, have not been captured using high-speed video cameras before.

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Two-dimensional Optical Observation of Striking Distance of Lightning Flashes to Two Buildings in Guangzhou

open access: yes应用气象学报, 2020
Lightning can strike directly on buildings, lightning protection devices or the lateral surface of buildings, endangering buildings on the ground. Effective lightning protection measures can avoid lightning damage to buildings and prevent possible fire ...

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Development Speed of Downward Positive Cloud-to-ground Lightning Leader Channels in Guangzhou

open access: yes应用气象学报
Positive cloud-to-ground (CG) natural lightning typically exhibits higher energy release than negative CG lightning, with greater peak current, longer duration, and larger charge transfer.

Extreme Polaritonic Interactions in a Room‐Temperature Designable Sub‐Nanocavity Quantum Electrodynamic Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanoparticle‐cluster‐on‐mirror (NPcoM) serves as a functionally deterministic sub‐nanocavity that emulates picocavities, enabling extreme light–matter interactions and polaritonic phenomena. ABSTRACT Pushing nanoscale optical confinement to its ultimate limits defines the regime of nano‐cavity quantum electrodynamics (nano‐cQED), where light‐matter ...

Classification of VLF/LF Lightning Signals Using Sensors and Deep Learning Methods

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2020
Lightning waveform plays an important role in lightning observation, location, and lightning disaster investigation. Based on a large amount of lightning waveform data provided by existing real-time very low frequency/low frequency (VLF/LF) lightning ...
