Lactation is Associated with Accelerated Postpartum Pelvic Floor Muscle Recovery in a Pregnant Simulated Birth Injury Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Healthy pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) are essential for proper pelvic floor function. The biggest risk factor for PFM dysfunction is injury sustained during vaginal childbirth, yet the factors that facilitate or impair PFM recovery from birth injury remain unknown.

ITRAQ-based quantitative proteomic analysis of Cynops orientalis limb regeneration

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2017
Background Salamanders regenerate their limbs after amputation. However, the molecular mechanism of this unique regeneration remains unclear. In this study, isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) coupled with liquid chromatography

Vertebrate limb regeneration and the origin of limb stem cells

open access: yesThe International Journal of Developmental Biology, 2002
The existence of multipotent cells in the adult tissues and organs of those vertebrates that are capable of regeneration has been accepted for decades. Although studies of vertebrate limb regeneration have yet to identify many of the specific molecules involved in regeneration, numerous tissue grafting experiments and studies of cell lineage have ...

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

A Millimeter‐Scale Implantable Magneto–Mechano–Electric Transducer Based on BTO Piezoelectric Ceramics for Remote Wireless Electrical Stimulation of Injured Sciatic Nerves

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a fully wireless, circuit‐free neural stimulator built on a millimetric magneto‐mechano‐electric (MME) cantilever transducer (3 × 10 × 5 mm) with a barium titanate (BTO) piezoelectric ceramic core. Under low‐frequency alternating magnetic fields, the MME cantilever mechanically oscillates, inducing stress on the BTO element and thereby ...

Neural regulation of H3K27me3 during the induction of patterning competency in regenerating Axolotl limb cells

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Limb regeneration in the Mexican axolotl relies on the dedifferentiation of mature limb cells into blastema cells, which gain the ability to respond to patterning signals that guide tissue regeneration.

Pathological Mechanism‐Inspired Biomimetic Nano‐Senotherapy for Reversing Experimental Atherosclerosis in ApoE−/− Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The biomimetic self‐assembly nanomedicine reversing atherosclerosis via senotherapy strategy. ABSTRACT The greatest challenge in atherosclerosis (AS) management lies in achieving lesion reversal, not merely slowing progression. Senescent cell accumulation—driven by continuous generation and apoptotic resistance—perpetuates plaque pathology and ...

Enhancing Blood Circulation With Epsilon‐Near‐Zero (ENZ) Materials via the Far‐Infrared Window of Human Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epsilon‐near‐zero (ENZ) silicon carbide enables a selective far‐infrared emitter spectrally aligned with the human skin window around 10 µm for wavelength‐matched thermal therapy. In 25 within‐subject trials (50 hands) monitored by laser speckle contrast imaging, SiC increases blood perfusion by 30.2% versus a broadband graphite emitter while ...
