Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

IMPROVED TECHNIQUE FOR COMPUTING CRITICAL SLIP FIELDS OF ROCK SLOPE

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2010
: The improvement and extension for critical slip fields of rock slope is performed, in view of the discontinuity of rock. By fully considering the influence of structural surface to the stability of the slope,a new method is proposed for dealing with

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Non-slice Calculation of Safety Factor and the Determination of Critical Sliding Surface of Homogeneous Ground Embankment

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2018
Around the stability problem of homogeneous ground embankment, a new method for non-slice calculation of safety factor and the determination of the critical sliding surface of embankment slope is proposed.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Analysis of Slope Stability Using Limit Equilibrium

open access: yesBulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Jassy: Constructions, Architechture Section, 2010
In achievement of slope load sustainability using mixed soil technique, is considered acceptable the method for slope construction technology. This paper deals with evaluation of mixed soil technique for construction of stable slope and proves the soil ...

Design method for internal stability of multi-tiered geosynthetic-reinforced retaining walls based on limit state

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2023
The multi-tiered configuration is often used in the geosynthetic-reinforced soil (GRS) high retaining walls. However, the related design methods are currently lagging behind the engineering practice. The analytical approach to calculate the reinforcement

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
