Anisotropic plasmons, Friedel oscillations and dynamical screening in $8-Pmmn$ borophene

open access: yes, 2017
$8-Pmmn$ borophene is a polymorph of borophene which hosts an anisotropic tilted Dirac cone. Using a low energy effective Hamiltonian for borophene, we analytically calculate the density-density response function of borophene and study its anisotropic ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A CHIME/FRB Study of Burst Rate and Morphological Evolution of the Periodically Repeating FRB 20180916B

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
FRB 20180916B is a repeating fast radio burst (FRB) with a 16.3 day periodicity in its activity. In this study, we present morphological properties of 60 FRB 20180916B bursts detected by CHIME/FRB between 2018 August and 2021 December.

On Periodicity in Limit Sets [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1967
The purpose of this paper is to give a necessary and sufficient condition in order that the S limit set of a point consists of exactly one periodic orbit which is both S-Lyapunov stable and S-asymptotically stable. The general reference for most terms used in this paper is [2]. In this paper we assume (X, T, r) is a transformation group.

Fluctuation analysis and short time asymptotics for multiple scales diffusion processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the limiting behavior of fluctuations of small noise diffusions with multiple scales around their homogenized deterministic limit. We allow full dependence of the coefficients on the slow and fast motion.

Lattice approaches to dilute Fermi gases: Legacy of broken Galilean invariance

open access: yes, 2011
In the dilute limit, the properties of fermionic lattice models with short-range attractive interactions converge to those of a dilute Fermi gas in continuum space.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

On the Euclidean action of de Sitter black holes and constrained instantons

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2023
We compute the on-shell Euclidean action of Schwarzschild-de Sitter black holes, and take their contributions in the gravitational path integral into account using the formalism of constrained instantons.

Saturation of electrical resistivity in metals at large temperatures

open access: yes, 2001
We present a microscopic model for systems showing resistivity saturation. An essentially exact quantum Monte-Carlo calculation demonstrates that the model describes saturation.
