Photosensitivity of the Central Nervous System of Limulus polyphemus [PDF]
The photosensitivity of the central nervous system (CNS) of the horseshoe crab, Limulus polyphemus, was investigated by analyzing changes in motor nerve activity in the segmental nerves of prosomal and opisthosomal ganglia. Spontaneous efferent impulses were recorded in the dark from all the investigated segmental nerves.

Abstract Objective Cataract surgery remains the sole method to resolve blindness secondary to cataract formation. One complication includes fibrin web formation post‐operatively. This study aimed to investigate the presence of endotoxin within materials used during cataract surgery as a possible cause of fibrin web phenomenon. Methods Preservative‐free

Endotoxin testing is a vital part of quality and safety control in pharmaceutical production. The primary method for this testing in North America and Europe is the limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) test, a critical component of which is the blood of ...

ABSTRACT Spiders are renowned for their ecological versatility and silk‐based innovations in materials science, yet marine environments remain virtually uncolonized by this predominantly terrestrial lineage. A striking exception is the obligate intertidal spider genus Desis, whose members have evolved extraordinary physiological and behavioural ...

Human α2‐Macroglobulin: Architecture, Mechanisms, and Functional Implications
Visual representation of human α2‐macroglobulin in its native and induced conformations. General functions associated with the native form (green), the induced form (white), and both conformations (light red) are indicated. ABSTRACT α2‐Macroglobulin (α2M) is a large glycoprotein and one of the most abundant proteins found in the plasma of vertebrates ...

The endangered tri‐spine horseshoe crab (Tachypleus tridentatus), a “living fossil” crucial to coastal ecology and biomedical research, is experiencing severe population declines. Effective conservation requires efficient monitoring, which traditional methods cannot deliver at scale. We develop an integrated UAV deep learning framework tailored to this

Formalin, ethanol, and RNAlater are commonly used fixatives for morphological and molecular studies, but each has limitations when specimen availability is low, as is often the case with field‐collected non‐model organisms. Here, we evaluate KINFix, a non‐toxic alcohol‐based fixative, in four invertebrate taxa and show that it effectively preserves ...
