Bulk and surface symmetry energy for the nuclei far from the valley of stability [PDF]

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2007
The direct variational method have been applied to the calculation of the symmetry energy for medium and heavy nuclei. The functional of energy of the Thomas - Fermi approximation with the effective Skyrme forces have been used.

Magnetic force exerted by the Aharonov-Bohm line [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters (EPL), 1998
The problem of the scattering of a charge by the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) flux line is reconsidered in terms of finite width beams. It is shown that despite the left-right symmetry in the AB scattering cross-section, the charge is scattered asymmetrically. The asymmetry (i.e.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

When contact lines remember: Surface charge and the evolving interaction with defects

open access: yesDroplet
The motion of contact line plays a crucial role in both natural phenomena and industrial processes. While it is well known that surface defects influence contact line dynamics, we demonstrate that their impact depends not only on geometry, size, and ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Research on Tooth Positioning and Mechanical Properties of Flexspline Tooth Rings with Harmonic Gear Clearance Assembly

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2022
The current theory considers that the shape of the deformed flexspline tooth ring neutral line is an isometric line of the cam, which ignores the effect of fit clearance and neutral line's elongation.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

On Plastic Design of Rotating Complex Machine Elements

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 1992
The differential relations (analoguous to Henecky equations) along slip-lines in the presence of body forces are formulated. These relations may be used in constructing stress fields for plastic design of various machine elements undergoing large body ...

Review of the Book \u3ci\u3eShakespeare, Einstein, and the Bottom Line: The Marketing of Higher Education\u3c/i\u3e [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
[Excerpt] Befitting a former journalist, Kirp\u27s book is extraordinarily well-written; once one picks it up it is hard to put down. Some economists may be put off by a book that contains no equations, tables, figures or regression results.
