PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Evaluating the Validity of Quasi-Static Analysis for Prediction of Vessel Mooring Line Forces

open access: yesInternational Journal of Maritime Technology, 2013
Quasi-Static analysis of moored vessels is vastly used for engineering designs, as a substitute to the numerical simulation of dynamic mooring analysis. Yet, the level of validity of the results of quasi-static analysis is a matter of discussion.

Actuating droplets with electrowetting: Force and dynamics

open access: yesDroplet
Electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) allows rapid movement of liquid droplets on a smooth surface, with applications ranging from lab‐on‐chip devices to micro‐actuators. The in‐plane force on a droplet is a key indicator of EWOD performance.

Taut-line buzzers with periodic forcing

open access: yesPhysical Review Applied
The time-dependent forcing and work per cycle required to drive sinusoidal spinning of a taut-line buzzer is analytically derived, both on and off resonance, from the nonlinear equation of motion. To test predictions, a model experimental system is constructed and characterized in terms of contraction versus twist angle and damped oscillations.

On Lines of Magnetic Force [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 1891
In my laboratory we make great use of the method of tracing lines of force described in Glazebrook and Shaw's Practical Physics. The field is modified in various ways; for instance, the fixed magnets are sometimes placed so as to somewhat resemble in their disposition the field magnets of a dynamo: sometimes a circular piece of soft iron is placed in ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
