Line Profiles in Symbiotic Stars

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1986
High resolution profiles of permitted and forbidden lines in symbiotic stars are described, with particular reference to the broad wings. An interpretation of the data in terms of an optically thin accretion disc around a hot subdwarf is presented.

Modeling of Geometric Variations for Line-Profiles

Volume 5: 37th Design Automation Conference, Parts A and B, 2011
The geometric variations in a tolerance-zone can be modeled with hypothetical point-spaces called Tolerance-Maps (T-Maps) for purposes of automating the assignment of tolerances during design. The objective of this paper is to extend this model to represent tolerances on line-profiles.

Line-profile measurement of xerographic copy

Applied Optics, 1978
An algorithm is presented which permits easy and rapid characterization of lines typically observed in xerographic copy. The outputs of the algorithm are line edge width, line width, and peak density. Auxiliary outputs are line darkness and spatial frequency content.

Line profile-based fingerprint matching

2016 International Workshop on Computational Intelligence (IWCI), 2016
Traditional fingerprint matching algorithms primarily focus on minutiae points on fingertip surface. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for fingerprint matching that is based on ridge and valley characteristics of fingerprints. At first, the input fingerprint image is normalized and the registration point of that particular fingerprint is ...

Protein profile of the HeLa cell line

Journal of Chromatography A, 2004
HeLa cells are widely used for all kinds of in vitro studies in biochemistry, biology and medicine. Knowledge on protein expression is limited and no comprehensive study on the proteome of this cell type has been reported so far. We applied proteomics technologies to analyze the proteins of the HeLa cell line.

Nonthermal effects on hydrogen-line profiles

Physical Review A, 1985
Experimentally determined level populations of hydrogen excited states from a low-density Z pinch are used as initial conditions in a simulation to derive electron-velocity distributions. These velocity distributions show excess electrons in the high velocity end of the distribution when compared to a Maxwellian velocity distribution.
