Spectral line profile of turbulent gas [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 1986
A simple theoretical model is proposed to determine the spectral line profile of a turbulent gas. It is shown that the spectral line profile of a turbulent gas is still a Voigt profile. Its Lorentzian component is hardly influenced by the turbulent motion.

Fe xxv line profiles in colliding wind binaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Strong wind-wind collisions in massive binaries generate a very hot plasma that frequently produces a moderately strong iron line. The morphology of this line depends upon the properties of the wind interaction zone and its orientation with respect to ...

Data on Stark Broadening of N VI Spectral Lines

open access: yesData
Data on Stark broadening parameters, spectral line widths, and shifts for 15 multiplets of N VI, whose spectral lines are broadened by collisions with electrons, protons, alpha particles (He III) and B III, B IV, B V and B VI ions, are presented.

Stark Broadening of Cr III Spectral Lines: DO White Dwarfs

open access: yesAtoms, 2018
Using the modified semiempirical method of Dimitrijević and Konjević, Stark widths have been calculated for six Cr III transitions, for an electron density of 10 17 cm ‒ 3 and for temperatures from 5000–80,000 K.

Forty Years of the Applications of Stark Broadening Data Determined with the Modified Semiempirical Method

open access: yesData, 2020
The aim of this paper is to analyze the various uses of Stark broadening data for non-hydrogenic lines emitted from plasma, obtained with the modified semiempirical method formulated 40 years ago (1980), which are continuously implemented in the STARK-B ...

Global Collapses and Expansions in Star-Forming Clouds

open access: yes, 2009
Spectral molecular line profile observations of star-forming molecular clouds sometimes show distinct red asymmetric double-peaked molecular line profiles with weaker blue peaks and stronger red peaks.

Stark Broadening of Co II Lines in Stellar Atmospheres

open access: yesData, 2020
Data for Stark full widths at half maximum for 46 Co II multiplets were calculated using a modified semiempirical method. In order to show the applicability and usefulness of this set of data for research into white dwarf and A type star atmospheres, the

CAII lines in a quiet region on the Sun I. Dynamic processes in the solar atmosphere

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics, 2023
We have studied oscillation processes in the quiet Sun outside a coronal hole at different levels of the solar chromosphere. The study was based on spectroscopic observations of ionized calcium lines (K, H, and 849.8 nm) obtained by the Sayan Solar ...

Line Profiles from Discrete Kinematic Data

open access: yes, 2012
We develop a method to extract the shape information of line profiles from discrete kinematic data. The Gauss-Hermite expansion, which is widely used to describe the line of sight velocity distributions extracted from absorption spectra of elliptical ...

Global Disk Oscillations: Theoretical Line Profiles [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1994
Based on 3D radiative line transfer calculations we present Hα emission line profiles of Be star circumstellar envelopes undergoing one-armed global disk oscillations. The results are in agreement with the observed line profile variability.
