The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

The canonical constructions of connections on total spaces of fibred manifolds [PDF]
summary:We classify classical linear connections $A(\Gamma ,\Lambda ,\Theta )$ on the total space $Y$ of a fibred manifold $Y\rightarrow M$ induced in a natural way by the following three objects: a general connection $\Gamma $ in $Y\rightarrow M$, a ...

Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Transformations of linear connections
Combining several results on related (or conjugate) connections, defined on banachable fibre bundles, we set up a machinery, which permits to study various transformations of linear connections. Global and local methods are applied throughout.

Applications of PDEs to the study of affine surface geometry [PDF]
If M=(M,∇) is an affine surface, let Q(M):=ker(H+1m−1ρs) be the space of solutions to the quasi-Einstein equation for the crucial eigenvalue. Let M~=(M,∇~) be another affine structure on M which is strongly projectively flat.

Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Affine connections generated by absolutely parallel vector and convector fields
Affine connections are considered both on an n-dimensional manifold and in the linear fibre bundle over the manifold. The expressions for the flat connection object in the terms of coordinates of absolutely parallel n vectors (covektors) and their ...

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?
