We show that deterministic finite automata equipped with $k$ two-way heads are equivalent to deterministic machines with a single two-way input head and $k-1$ linearly bounded counters if the accepted language is strictly bounded, i.e., a subset of $a_1^*

Design and Analysis of Linear Fault-Tolerant Permanent-Magnet Vernier Machines
This paper proposes a new linear fault-tolerant permanent-magnet (PM) vernier (LFTPMV) machine, which can offer high thrust by using the magnetic gear effect. Both PMs and windings of the proposed machine are on short mover, while the long stator is only

Linear probabilistic sequential machines
Based on the notion of a stochastic matrix operator, the class of linear probabilistic sequential machines is defined and characterized. Necessary and sufficient conditions are formulated for a given probabilistic sequential machine to be linear. An algorithm for testing the linearity of a probabilistic sequential machine is presented as well.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Linear logic [\textit{J.-Y. Girard}, ibid. 50, 1-102 (1987; Zbl 0625.03037)] provides a refinement of functional programming and suggests a new implementation technique, with the following features: - a synthesis of strict and lazy evaluation, - a clean semantics of side effects, - no garbage collector.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
