Symplectic Foliation Structures of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics as Dissipation Model: Application to Metriplectic Nonlinear Lindblad Quantum Master Equation

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
The idea of a canonical ensemble from Gibbs has been extended by Jean-Marie Souriau for a symplectic manifold where a Lie group has a Hamiltonian action.

Modified Fourier expansions: theory, construction and applications

open access: yes, 2010
Modified Fourier expansions present an alternative to more standard algorithms for the approximation of nonperiodic functions in bounded domains. This thesis addresses the theory of such expansions, their effective construction and computation, and ...

Perturbation theory for the approximation of stability spectra by QR methods for sequences of linear operators on a Hilbert space

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 2012
The authors develop a quantitative perturbation theory for the approximation of stability spectra of sequences of infinite dimensional operators based on an infinite dimensional \(QR\) technique for determining Lyapunov exponents and Sacker-Sell spectrum. The results apply also in the case of stable but not necessarily distinct Lyapunov exponents.

On relaxation processes in a completely ionized plasma

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2020
Relaxation of the electron energy and momentum densities is investigated in spatially uniform states of completely ionized plasma in the presence of small constant and spatially homogeneous external electric field.

Numerical methods for boundary value problems on random domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this thesis, we consider the numerical solution of elliptic boundary value problems on random domains. The underlying domain is modelled via a random vector field which is given by its mean and its covariance.

On the convergence of the implicit iterative line-by-line recurrence method for solving difference elliptical equations [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерные исследования и моделирование, 2017
In the article a theory of the implicit iterative line-by-line recurrence method for solving the systems of finite-difference equations which arise as a result of approximation of the two-dimensional elliptic differential equations on a regular grid is ...

Interior penalty discontinuous galerkin methods for electromagnetic and acoustic wave equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Introduction: In this thesis we present and analyze the numerical approximation of the second order electromagnetic and acoustic wave equation by the interior penalty (IP) discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element method (FEM).

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
