Fourier integrals and a new representation of Maslov's canonical operator near caustics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We suggest a new representation of Maslov's canonical operator in a neighborhood of the caustics using a special class of coordinate systems (\eikonal coordinates") on Lagrangian ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Condensation of the singularities in the theory of operator ideals

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2004
In the present paper there are given some applications of the principle of condensation of the singularities of families of nonnegative functions established by W. W. Breckner in 1984. They reveal Baire category information on certain subsets of a normed

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Stability, instability, and error of the force-based quasicontinuum approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Due to their algorithmic simplicity and high accuracy, force-based model coupling techniques are popular tools in computational physics. For example, the force-based quasicontinuum (QCF) approximation is the only known pointwise consistent quasicontinuum

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Multi-Composite Activated Neural Networks Treated as Positive Linear Operators

open access: yesMathematics
Multi-composite activated neural network operators can be understood as positive linear operators, allowing them to be analyzed using standard, established theory.

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

Padé-approximants in operator theory for the solution of nonlinear differential and integral equations

open access: yesComputers & Mathematics with Applications, 1982
AbstractThe Padé approximation problem in operator theory and its solution will be repeated briefly together with some properties of the Padé approximants. Effective methods for the solution of differential and integral equations are of great practical importance and there is a vast literature devoted to this subject. Here a few methods, resulting from ...
