Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Control of linear parameter-varying systems using B-splines [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE 55th Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2016
This paper presents a novel approach to efficiently solve parameter-dependent (PD) linear matrix inequality (LMI) problems for, amongst others, linear parameter-varying (LPV) control design. Typically, stability and performance is guaranteed by finding a PD Lyapunov function such that a PD LMI is feasible on a parameter domain.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Linear Parameter-Varying Control of an F-16 Aircraft at High Angle of Attack [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
To improve the aircraft capability at high angle of attack and expand the flight envelope, advanced linear parameter-varying (LPV) control methodologies are studied in this thesis with particular applications of actuator saturation control and switching ...

Tube-based anticipative model predictive control for linear parameter-varying systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Currently available model predictive control methods for linear parameter-varying systems assume that the future behavior of the scheduling trajectory is unknown over the prediction horizon. In this paper, an anticipative tube MPC algorithm for polytopic

Actuator Saturation and Control Design for Buildings Structural Systems with Improved Uncertainty Description

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2013
The problem of robustly active vibration control for a class of earthquake-excited structural systems with time-delay and saturation in the control input channel and parameter uncertainties appearing in all the mass, damping and stiffness matrices is ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
