Correlating the Evans index and bicaudate index with ventricle volume at the three kinds of scanning baselines

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin
Purpose: Evans' Index (EI) and Bicaudate Index (BCI), as two-dimensional linear indexes, are commonly used to evaluate ventricle size. This study is investigated the differences in linear measures at the three kinds of scanning baselines and their ...

Linear Robot as The Approach towards Individual Abdominal Ultrasound Scanning in Developing Countries?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advances in Telecommunications, Electrotechnics, Signals and Systems, 2015
In order to improve comfort in abdominal ultrasound scanning, reduce operator dependency and increase image resolution, a novel method for automatic ultrasound cervix scanning, especially for developing countries, has been developed.

Spatial correlation of linear and nonlinear electron transport in superconducting microwave resonator: laser scanning microscopy analysis

open access: yes, 2007
Spatially-resolved techniques of laser scanning microscopy (LSM) have been used to image simultaneously the spatial variations of (i) rf current flow, J$_RF$(x,y), of (ii) areas of resistive dissipation and (iii) the sources of microwave nonlinearity (NL)

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Local Ferroelectricity in SrTiO_3 Thin Films

open access: yes, 2002
The temperature-dependent polarization of SrTiO_3 thin films is investigated using confocal scanning optical microscopy. A homogeneous out-of-plane and inhomogeneous in-plane ferroelectric phase are identified from images of the linear electrooptic ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

A Joint Compensation Method for Repositioning Error and Atmospheric Phase Screen of Ground-Based SAR

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
In the monitoring of discontinuous ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GB-SAR), challenges such as repositioning error and atmospheric phase screen (APS) can significantly impact the accuracy of deformation inversion. Existing compensation methods are

Linear Motor Powered Transportation [Scanning the Issue] [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the IEEE, 2009
This special issue on linear-motor powered transportation covers both supporting technologies and innovative transport systems in various parts of the World, as this technology moves from the lab to commercial operations. There are many types of linear motors, but most of those discussed in these papers are the short primary linear induction motor (LIM)

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Single Channel Josephson Effect in a High Transmission Atomic Contact

open access: yes, 2018
The Josephson effect in scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is an excellent tool to probe the properties of the superconducting order parameter on a local scale through the Ambegaokar-Baratoff (AB) relation.
