Non-Linear Seismic Analysis Method of Concrete Frame Structure [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Jassy: Constructions, Architechture Section, 2005
The proposed computation method principle utilized in the studied problem, which consist in solving the dynamic equilibrium differential equation system, written in the incremental form, using a hysteretic model of computing in analytical form, is ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Bayes linear covariance matrix adjustment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In this thesis, a Bayes linear methodology for the adjustment of covariance matrices is presented and discussed. A geometric framework for quantifying uncertainties about covariance matrices is set up, and an inner-product for spaces of random matrices ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Pricing in ecosystems: A generalized linear production model [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper a method is developed to derive prices for natural goods from information about material and energy flows within ecosystems. The derivation is based on an analogy between ecological and economic systems: both systems are characterized by ...

Paratransitive algebras of linear operators [PDF]

open access: yes
In this article we study a natural weakening – which we refer to as paratransitivity – of the well-known notion of transitivity of an algebra AA of linear operators acting on a finite-dimensional vector space VV. Given positive integers k and m, we shall

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Linear Program Construction Using Metamodeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
One of the most significant trends in data warehousing today is the integration of Metadata into data warehousing tools. A data warehouse is an area which exists on computer systems that is used for holding all of the data that an organization might ...
