Algebraic Theory of Linear Time-Varying Systems

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1979
An algebraic theory of linear time-varying discrete-time systems is developed in terms of a module structure defined over a noncommutative polynomial ring. The module setup is induced from a semilinear transformation that is derived from the given system.

Observability of Linear Time-Varying Descriptor Systems

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1991
This paper examines the observability of linear time-varying descriptor systems in the form of \[ \begin{cases} E(t)\underline{x}'(t)+F(t)\underline{x}(t)=B(t)u(t)\\ y(t)=C(t)\underline{x}(t)\end{cases} \] where \(E\) is not required to have constant rank.

Simultaneous Stabilization of Linear Time Varying Systems by Linear Time Varying Compensation

1989
The problem of stabilization of a linear time-invariant plant by a linear time-invariant output feedback compensator has been one of the most important problems in system theory. However, since many of the systems considered in practice are time-varying, it is important to generalize results well known in time-invariant systems theory (see [4], [5], [6]

Regularizations of linear time varying singular systems

Automatica, 1984
Singular systems of differential equations arising in reduced-order models are often regularized by the introduction of small parameters. The types of regularization used for linear time-invariant systems need not work on linear time-varying systems. This paper gives examples and discusses this behaviour.

SENSITIVITY OPERATORS FOR LINEAR TIME-VARYING SYSTEMS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1964
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses sensitivity operators for linear time-varying systems. A major problem in analysis and design of dynamical systems is the influence of parameter variations on system performance. It is customary to use feedback to counteract the affects of parameter variations.

Stabilizability of Linear Discrete Time-Varying Systems

2020
For linear discrete time-varying systems we discuss the relation between stabilizability, controllability and finiteness of quadratic cost functional. The role of the existence of global and bounded solutions of the discrete time-varying Riccati equation for stabilizability is also explained.

Liapunov equations for time-varying linear systems

Systems & Control Letters, 1987
The object of this paper is to give characterizations of the exponential stability of linear time-varying deterministic and stochastic systems in Hilbert spaces, using the Lyapunov differential equations. Generalizations of well-known results of Datko about exponential stability of evolutionary processes are obtained.

Adaptive control of linear time-varying systems

Automatica, 2003
This paper presents an adaptive output feedback control algorithm that assures boundedness of all closed-loop signals, arbitrarily improved transient performance of the tracking error, and asymptotically vanishing tracking error when parameter time derivatives are \(L^1\) signals and disturbances are \(L^2\) signals.
