One‐Step Microfluidic Manufactured Fucose‐Decorated Sweetosomes Choose the Time and the Road for Their Intracellular Journey to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Sweetosomes, a new class of fucose‐decorated liposomes, are developed via a one‐step microfluidic process without surface chemistry. This study elucidates their main caveolae‐mediated entry and distinct endosomal trafficking. These nanostructures demonstrate superior endosomal escape, organelle acidity modulation, and prolonged plasma persistence ...

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Exposure to Abnormal Self Antigens During Non-Malignant Inflammatory Events Provides Immunological Defense Against Tumors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Cancer immunosurveillance is the body’s sentinel mechanism of recognizing and eliminating malignancy. Specifically, the immune system can mount a response against cancer through the recognition of tumor associated antigens (TAA). While studying two TAAs,

Tuning the Testicular Microenvironment for Enhancing Human Sertoli Cells Maturation and Functionality In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An in vitro testicular model is developed by generating connective tissue equivalents from human dermal fibroblast‐derived microtissues and coupling them with human Sertoli cells or human Sertoli cell spheroids. This engineered microenvironment supports Sertoli cell maturation and functionality, providing a promising platform for studying human ...

Effect of lipid peroxidation on the immunocytochemical detection of a leukocyte antigenic determinant in fresh and cryopreserved bovine spermatozoa

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Studies on different species, including rats, monkeys and humans, have shown the presence of leukocyte differentiationantigens in the spermatozoa. In some case the expression of these molecules is related to a specific functional state ofthe sperm cell ...

SENSITIVE DETECTION OF HYDROPHOBIC ANTIGENS USING A NOVEL LIPID-AGGREGATE BASED ELISA

open access: yes, 2008
Antibodies against hydrophobic antigens are common in several autoimmune diseases. However, detection of such antibodies by standard immune-assays, such as ELISA, is problematic, in part because of the problems with coating hydrophobic molecules onto ...
