Composition of cerumen lipids

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1990
Lipids were extracted from "wet" cerumen and analyzed by quantitative thin-layer chromatography to determine their composition. The lipid fraction comprised 52% of the dry weight of cerumen and consisted of squalene (6.4%), cholesterol esters (9.6%), wax esters (9.3%), triacylglycerols (3.0%), fatty acids (22.7%), cholesterol (20.9%), ceramides (18.6%),

Lipid Composition of Heterocysts

Nature, 1969
WE have reported the isolation and partial characterization of a novel lipophilic glycoside which is apparently specific to nitrogen-fixing blue-green algae1. During these studies we noticed that a culture of Mastigocladus laminosus which had been grown in a medium containing ammonium salts synthesized no detectable quantities of the glycoside.

The lipid composition of the in situ pellicle

Archives of Oral Biology, 2022
The present study aimed to systematically analyse the complete lipid profile of the in situ pellicle in comparison to saliva. For the first time, the modern sensitive methods GC-EI/MS and HPLC MS/MS were to be used for this purpose.Bovine enamel slabs were exposed to the oral cavity of 12 subjects by customized splints (3 min, 30 min or 120 min ...

Lipid composition and permeability of liposomes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1968
Abstract 1. 1. Layered latticed liquid crystals (liposomes) in dilute electrolyte solutions have been prepared from a number of synthetic lecithins with variations in length and number of double bonds of the paraffin chains. Using the property of these structures to act as practical, ideal osmometers, their permeability behaviour towards glycerol
