Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Lipids of Masu Salmon-II

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1974
Differences in the seasonal variations of the lipid contents and the fatty acid compositions in the flesh of parr, residual type and seaward migration type of wild Masu salmon parr (Oncorhynchus masou) during fresh-water habitation were investigated. The lipid content decreased gradually from summer to winter in each type.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Lipoprotein assembly and function in an evolutionary perspective

open access: yesBiomolecular Concepts, 2010
Circulatory fat transport in animals relies on members of the large lipid transfer protein (LLTP) superfamily, including mammalian apolipoprotein B (apoB) and insect apolipophorin II/I (apoLp-II/I).

Investigating potential associations between O3 exposure and lipid profiles: A longitudinal study of older adults in Beijing

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2019
Background: Little information exists on the lipidemic effects of ozone exposure. Few studies have focused on the different patterns of the association among older adults population, and little attention has been given to comprehensive lipid indices when

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Viral fusion proteins of classes II and III recognize and reorganize complex biological membranes

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Viral infection requires stable binding of viral fusion proteins to host membranes, which contain hundreds of lipid species. The mechanisms by which fusion proteins utilize specific host lipids to drive virus–host membrane fusion remains elusive.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...
