Lipid Packing in Lipid-Wrapped Nanoparticles
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2018Equilibrium simulations of lipid-wrapped nanoparticles (LNP) were performed using a hybrid molecular dynamics/Monte Carlo (MD/MC) approach. The radius, R, of a spherical nanoparticle (NP) core was adjusted with MC moves while a surrounding lipid bilayer was treated with MD.

The present invention relates to the field of lipid nanoparticles (LPN); more specifically comprising an ionisable lipid, a phospholipid, a sterol, a PEG lipid and one or more nucleic acids. The LNP's of the present invention are characterized in having a minimal average diameter of about 140 nm, thereby inducing a more potent immune response.

Controlled Nucleation of Lipid Nanoparticles
Pharmaceutical Research, 2012We describe a nucleation-based method which allows for the generation of monodisperse lipid nanoparticles over a range of diameters. Using a set of novel zwitterionic lipids and inverse phosphocholine lipids with pKas ranging from 2 to 5, we showed how the hydrodynamic diameter of lipid nanoparticles can be systematically manipulated over a 60 nm to ...

In the last decade of the last century, solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) have been introduced to the literature as a novel carrier system for cosmetic active ingredients and pharmaceutical drugs. SLN consist of biodegradable physiological lipids or lipidic substances and stabilisers which are generally recognised as safe (GRAS) or have a regulatory ...

Polystyrene Nanoparticles Perturb Lipid Membranes
The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2013Polystyrene is abundant in marine debris. Like most synthetic polymers, it degrades very slowly, producing smaller and smaller particles easily ingested by wildlife. The presence of plastic microscopic particles in fish and marine wildlife is massive and well documented, but its impact on cellular activity is not understood.

New Methods for Lipid Nanoparticles Preparation
Recent Patents on Drug Delivery & Formulation, 2011Lipid nanoparticles have attracted many researchers during recent years due to the excellent tolerability and advantages compared to liposomes and polymeric nanoparticles. High pressure homogenization is the main technique used to prepare solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) encapsulating different type of drugs, however this method involves some critical ...

Analysis of Lipid Nanoparticles
LCGC North America, 2023Over the last several years, our definition of biotherapeutics has evolved from solely protein-based therapeutics, such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), to include such product classes as cell and gene therapies. Cell and gene therapies are unique products that require innovative and new approaches to formulation, specifically related to drug delivery.
