Apolipoprotein E delivery by peritoneal implantation of encapsulated recombinant cells improves the hyperlipidaemic profile in apoE-deficient mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Plasma apolipoprotein E (apoE) is a 34-kDa polymorphic protein which has atheroprotective actions by clearing remnant lipoproteins and sequestering excess cellular cholesterol.

Effects of dalcetrapib in patients with a recent acute coronary syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In observational analyses, higher levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol have been associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease events.

High Density Lipoproteins: Metabolism, Function, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2020
High Density Lipoproteins (HDLs) have long been considered as “good cholesterol,” beneficial to the whole body and, in particular, to cardio-vascular health.

Hyperlipidemia Aggravates Alveolar Bone Loss via Periodontal Ligament Stem Cell Ferroptosis Through GSK3β Dependent Ubiquitin‐Mediated NRF2 Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid metabolic stress triggers ferroptosis in PDLSCs through the GSK3β/NRF2 pathway, thereby aggravating periodontal bone loss. Upregulated GSK3β promotes NRF2 ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation via β‐TrCP, suppressing NRF2 nuclear translocation and antioxidant target expression.

Racial differences between African-American and white women in insulin resistance and visceral adiposity are associated with differences in apoCIII containing apoAI and apoB lipoproteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: African-Americans have higher HDL, less visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and lower triglyceride (TG) and apoCIII concentrations than whites, despite being more insulin-resistant.

A Review of Lipidomics of Cardiovascular Disease Highlights the Importance of Isolating Lipoproteins

open access: yesMetabolites, 2020
Cutting-edge lipidomic profiling measures hundreds or even thousands of lipids in plasma and is increasingly used to investigate mechanisms of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Intestinal Source Control of Lipid Metabolism by Enzyme‐Probiotic Encapsulated, Spatiotemporal Crosslinked, and Small Intestine‐Adhesive Hydrogel Microspheres

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thiol‐modified alginate hydrogel microsphere‐encapsulated enzyme‐probiotic biohybrid (AKK‐COD) system has been developed to address the spatiotemporal delivery and colonization challenges of small intestine‐targeted probiotic for lipid metabolism regulation. The system exerts sequential functions of intragastric protection, small intestinal adhesion,

Distribution of cell-derived cholesterol among plasma lipoproteins: a comparison of three techniques.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
Three fractionation procedures (immunoaffinity chromatography, two-dimensional nondenaturing electrophoresis, and heparin-agarose affinity chromatography) have been compared in determining the kinetics of free and ester cholesterol transfer in ...

Are There Causal Associations Between Obsessive‐Compulsive Disorder and Cardiometabolic Phenotypes? A Genetic Correlation and Bi‐Directional Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In epidemiological studies, obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD) is robustly associated with increased risk of cardiometabolic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. However, the mechanisms behind these associations are unclear. We conducted genetic correlation analyses to explore shared genetic etiology and
