Assembly of very low density lipoproteins in mouse liver: evidence of heterogeneity of particle density in the Golgi apparatus

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
The assembly of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) by hepatocytes is believed to occur via a two-step process. The first step is the formation of a dense phospholipid and protein-rich particle that is believed to be converted to VLDL by the addition of

Concordance‐discordance between apolipoprotein B and lipid biomarkers in predicting 20‐year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk: The ATTICA study (2002–2022)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, EarlyView.
This study examined the association between 20‐year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk and discordance among apolipoprotein B100 (apoB) and lipid biomarkers, using established thresholds. ApoB strongly correlated with LDL‐C and non‐HDL‐C, though concordance was limited.

Alpha-tocopherol is secreted from rat liver in very low density lipoproteins

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1988
Three separate studies were carried out to test the hypothesis that rat liver secretes vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) within very low density lipoproteins (VLDL).

Apolipoprotein VLDL-II inhibits lipolysis of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins in the laying hen.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
In the laying hen, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) particles contain large amounts of apolipoprotein (apo)-VLDL-II in addition to apoB. These triglyceride-rich lipoproteins are transported from the liver primarily to growing oocytes. Since no appreciable hydrolysis of triglyceride occurs during this transport, we have investigated the possibility ...

Expanding our understanding of synucleinopathies: proteinopathy, proteinopenia, and lipidopathy

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Neurodegeneration is thought to arise due to the disruption of the protein homeostasis. In synucleinopathies, alterations in the levels of functional and aggregated aSyn lead to proteinopenia and proteinopathy, respectively. aSyn and β‐glucocerebrosidase are closely linked to lipid metabolism, impacting organelle function and lipidostasis.

Secretion of apolipoproteins in very low density and high density lipoproteins by perfused rat liver

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1974
The incorporation of labeled amino acids into the peptides of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and high density lipoproteins (HDL) secreted by perfused rat liver was studied using a Ringer—albumin solution in the perfusate in place of serum to ...

Genetic Loci Associated With Periodontitis: The FinnGen Study Based on National Health Registers

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To perform a genome‐wide association study (GWAS) for periodontitis in the FinnGen cohort, as genetic factors contribute to periodontitis. Materials and Methods We included nearly 250,000 Finnish individuals who had visited a dentist in the public healthcare sector for a clinical oral examination. We designed three periodontitis phenotypes

Acetaldehyde adducts and autoantibodies against VLDL and LDL in alcoholics

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1993
Alcohol consumption markedly increases the hepatic output of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), whereas it decreases the resulting low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels and apolipoprotein B.

Leptin promoter G2548A variant, elevated plasma leptin levels, and increased risk of Type 2 diabetes with CAD in Iranian patients: A genetic association study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
The paper should be of interest to readers in the areas of genetic association, polymorphism, and Type 2 diabetes. ABSTRACT Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a significant risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). Leptin polymorphism is known to be associated with obesity and Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Serum Biomarkers in Atlantic Salmon for Differential Diagnosis of Cardiomyopathy Syndrome and Pancreas Disease: Proteomic Identification of Serum Fibrinogen to Enhance Troponin Immunoassay as Optimal Diagnostic Approach

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cardiac viral diseases are among the major causes of economic losses in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) aquaculture. These include cardiomyopathy syndrome (CMS) caused by piscine myocarditis virus (PMCV) and pancreas disease (PD) caused by Atlantic salmonid alphavirus (SAV).
