The enzymatic oxygenation of polyunsaturated fatty acids by lipoxygenases and cyclo-oxygenases is a resourceful mode of formation of specific autacoids that regulate the extent and pace of the inflammatory response. Arachidonate-derived eicosanoids, such

Arachidonic acid in health and disease with focus on hypertension and diabetes mellitus: A review
Arachidonic acid (AA 20:4n-6) is an essential component of cell membranes and modulates cell membrane fluidity. AA is metabolized by cyclo-oxygenase (COX), lipoxygenase (LOX) and cytochrome P450 enzymes to form several metabolites that have important ...

We provide the first human evidence that the exercise‐induced myokine irisin mediates the relationship between physical activity and hippocampal volume in older adults, with strongest effects in CA1, CA3 and CA4 subfields. These regions are critical for memory and particularly vulnerable to Alzheimer's disease.

Effect of lipoxin A4 on IMR-32 cells.
IMR-32 cells were exposed to different doses (1, 5, 10 ng/ml) of lipoxin A4 and incubated for 24 hrs. At the end of treatment period, cell viability was measured by MTT assay.

Background and Purpose Interleukin (IL)‐13 is implicated in airway hyperreactivity (AHR), a key feature of asthma. We explored the potential anti‐AHR activity of selected specialised pro‐resolving mediators (SPMs) in IL‐13‐induced AHR models, using human bronchial smooth muscle cells (BSMCs) and human isolated bronchi.

Lipoxin A4 receptor dependent leishmania infection
The lipoxin A4 receptor (ALX) is an important target of LxA4 in synovial tissues of patients with inflammatory arthritis. Previously this receptor was known as the FPRL-1 on PMN and shown to interact with acute phase proteins and a variety of peptides. ALX signalling can either activate or deactivate PMN functions.

JDK and kaempferol upregulate ANXA1 in oral epithelia, which bind to fibroblast FPR2 to suppress myofibroblast activation, and collagen deposition, while reducing neutrophil recruitment and inflammation, thereby restoring epithelial‐fibroblast homeostasis to alleviate arecoline‐induced OSF. ABSTRACT Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is a betel quid chewing‐

Background: Inflammation and hypercoagulability play a pivotal role in venous thromboembolism and atherothrombosis. Since venous thrombosis increases the risk of atherothrombotic events and vice versa, common mechanisms may be involved. Objectives: To ...
