Prediction and Suppression of Liquid Propellant Sloshing-Induced Oscillation in RLV Terminal Flight

open access: yesAerospace
During the reentry terminal flight of lifting-body Reusable Launch Vehicles (RLVs) propelled by liquid fuel, the sloshing of liquid propellent presents new features that, if neglected, could lead to adverse flight oscillations or even worse.

Computational simulation of nonlinear liquid sloshing in a tank truck

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
Liquid sloshing in the tank of a tank truck is one of the important factors affecting the driving stability of the tank truck. When the external motivation is larger, the liquid sloshing phenomenon shows the nonlinear characteristics of the movement ...

Numerical Investigation of Shallow Liquid Sloshing in a Baffled Tank and the Associated Damping Effect by BM-MPS Method

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Understanding the damping mechanism of baffles is helpful to make more reasonable use of them in suppressing liquid sloshing. In this study, the damping effect and mechanism of vertical baffles in shallow liquid sloshing under a rotational excitation are

Modeling and Analysis of the Kinetic Influence of Liquid Sloshing Characteristics on High-Clearance Sprayers

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2021
To research the influence of liquid sloshing on the driving stability of high-clearance sprayers, this paper builds an equivalent liquid sloshing mechanical model and obtains the stochastic acceleration excitation of the rectangular spray tank using the ...

Analysis of the peak vertical displacement of liquid surface due to sloshing [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
When a tank containing liquid vibrates, the liquid exerts hydrodynamic effects on the solid domain of a tank. In the case of roof tanks, a large sloshing wave will impact the wall or roof of the tanks and may cause extensive damage or failure of the ...

Nonlinear response of a liquid surface in lateral sloshing.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1988
An experimental study is presented for the dynamic behavior of a liquid in a cylindrical container subject to horizontal oscillation. The nonlinear effects on dynamic characteristics of the liquid-surface response are investigated. At low excitation accelerations, the liquid surface responds in a concentric standing wave.
