Hydrodynamic Analysis of Partially Filled Liquid Tanks Subject to 3D Vehicular Manoeuvring

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
This paper is concerned with liquid sloshing in a partially filled container due to 3-dimensional vehicle motion. The liquid sloshing is described by a set of linear modal equations derived from the potential flow theory, which can be applied to liquid ...

Incremental Model Order Reduction of Smoothed‐Particle Hydrodynamic Simulations

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 97, Issue 12, Page 1571-1594, December 2025.
The paper presents the development of an incremental singular value decomposition strategy for compressing time‐dependent particle simulation results, addressing gaps in the data matrices caused by temporally inactive particles. The approach reduces memory requirements by about 90%, increases the computational effort by about 10%, and preserves the ...

Spatiotemporal Interrogation of Single Spheroids Using Multiplexed Nanoplasmonic‐Fluorescence Imaging

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 1, 2025.
This work introduces a multiplexed imaging platform that integrates nanoplasmonic sensing with fluorescence microscopy for concomitant monitoring of extraspheroid secretions and intraspheroid features over extended periods with spatiotemporal resolution.

Numerical Study on the Sloshing Behaviors of Dual Liquid Tanks with Gas Inflow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The finite volume method (FVM) is used to numerically investigate the sloshing behaviors of dual liquid tanks with gas inflow in this study. The sloshing process of a single liquid tank is simulated to verify the feasibility of the numerical method ...

Balance pan damping using tuned sloshing liquids [PDF]

open access: yes2008 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements Digest, 2008
This paper describes a new method to damp out balance pan oscillations even when the balance is operated in vacuum. The key is to tune the wavelength of the damping liquid, which resides in a sealed container attached above the pan, to the natural frequencies expected in the pan operation.

Did They Feel It? Legacy Macroseismic Data Illuminates an Engimatic 20th Century Earthquake

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 12, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract The challenges and the importance of preserving legacy instrumental records of earthquakes are now well‐recognized (e.g., Richards & Hellweg, 2020, https://doi.org/10.1785/0220200053). Seismologists may not be aware of parallel challenges and opportunities with legacy macroseismic data for earthquakes in the United States. For much of the 20th

Simulation of stability control of tank trucks under vehicle-liquid coupling response

open access: yesYou-qi chuyun, 2020
In order to study the influence of vehicle-liquid coupling dynamic response on the vehicle stability when the tank truck is turning or changing lanes, a liquid sloshing model was established and solved by computational fluid dynamics software ANSYS ...

Spheroid Cell Aggregation Enhanced by Enzyme‐Free Ultrasound‐Detached Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2025.
This study demonstrates that ultrasound‐based, enzyme‐free cell detachment accelerates spheroid formation by preserving surface proteins, reducing variability, and enhancing cell aggregation. Comparable engraftment and improved spatial organization in co‐cultured spheroids are observed.

Simulation analysis of gas–liquid flow and mass transfer in a shaking triethylene glycol dewatering absorber

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B
Tall towers with large diameters on floating liquefied natural gas devices are highly sensitive to sway. If tower equipment is relatively high, swaying can easily cause uneven gas–liquid contact in the tower, inhibiting its absorption capacity.
