A comparison of in situ and on‐vessel larval rearing for coral seeding

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 4, May 2025.
Coral sexual recruitment is critical to reef recovery yet often fails on degraded reefs. Coral seeding is one approach to artificially increase the densities of coral settlers on reefs and can be applied in many ways. A thorough comparison of seeding‐method performance is needed to inform restoration decisions yet is difficult to undertake given the ...

A guide to collecting samples for flower and fruit developmental studies

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 2, April–June 2025.
Developmental studies of flowers and fruits offer valuable insights for evolutionary research on flowering plants, making accurate sampling across developmental stages essential. This overview outlines key sampling strategies, sources of material, required equipment and helpful tips for collecting specimens suitable for developmental morphological ...

CFD simulation of wave-induced motions of an LNG ship considering tank sloshing effects

open access: yesBrodogradnja
This study uses a CFD approach to perform numerical simulations of the hydrodynamic interactions between LNG ship motions induced by waves and the sloshing behavior of cargo tanks.

Damping control of sloshing during liquid container transfer by active vibration reducer with 6-DOF parallel linkage (In the case of straight path on horizontal plane)

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2014
This paper presents a method to damp sloshing in a liquid container during its transfer in a cart equipped with an active vibration reducer having a six-degree-of-freedom parallel linkage. Sloshing is generated during the liquid container's transfer.

Comparison of finite and boundary element methods in problems of oscillations of a composite shell of revolution with a liquid

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна. Серія: Математичне моделювання, інформаційні технології, автоматизовані системи управління, 2019
The phenomenon of sloshing can be described as the movement of the free surface of a liquid contained in a reservoir under the action of a suddenly applied load.

Liquid Sloshing Damping in an Elastic Container

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mechanics, 2011
It is proposed to investigate in this paper the damped vibrations of an incompressible liquid contained in a deformable tank. A linearized formulation describing the small movements of the system is presented. At first, a diagonal damping is introduced in the reduced equations of the hydroelastic sloshing problem.

Effect of natural frequency modes on sloshing phenomenon in a rectangular tank

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2015
Liquid sloshing in two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) rectangular tanks is simulated by using a level set method based on the finite volume method. In order to examine the effect of natural frequency modes on liquid sloshing, we considered

LIPCPM: A Novel Model for Anti-Sloshing and Stable Bipedal Robot Locomotion

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this paper, we propose a novel model, the Linear Inverted Pendulum with Cart-Plate Model (LIPCPM), which combines the Linear Inverted Pendulum Model (LIPM) with a mass-spring-damper model to simultaneously control both the legged robot and the ...
