A Liquid-Hydrogen Target

1967
Liquid-hydrogen targets are frequently used in research work carried out in accelerators. The main requirements laid upon such targets are: economy, represented by a low evaporation rate of the liquid hydrogen, a small thickness of constructional materials in the “in” and “out” paths of the beam and reaction products (ensuring the recording of charged ...

Cryogenic liquid neon targets

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1988
Abstract A cryogenic target has been constructed and used with both liquid 20 Ne and 22 Ne as well as liquid deuterium in the temperature range of 18–26 K. The target was designed for use with the Triumf low-energy QQD pion spectrometer, and it presented to an incident pion beam a bubble-free slab of liquid isotopically enriched neon which was 3 mm

A liquid target for in-beam experiments

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1975
Abstract A liquid target consisting of a cloud of small (≈ 100 ug/cm2) oil droplets is described. The target is obtained by using a commercial Diesel injector which sprays the liquid into a differentially pumped target region. The possible use of spray targets as charge strippers in tandem accelerators is discussed.

Liquidation in Target Zone Models

Market Microstructure and Liquidity, 2018
We study optimal liquidation in “target zone models” — asset prices with a reflecting boundary enforced by regulatory interventions. This can be treated as a special case of an Almgren–Chriss model with running and terminal inventory costs and general predictive signals about price changes.

Liquid Hydrogen: Target, Detector

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
In 1952 D. Glaser demonstrated that a radioactive source’s radiation could boil 135°C superheated‐diethyl ether in a 3‐mm O glass vessel and recorded bubble track growth on high‐speed film in a 2‐cm3 chamber. This Bubble Chamber (BC) promised improved particle track time and spatial resolution and cycling rate.

Nonboiling Liquid Hydrogen Target

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1966
A thin 2 mm liquid hydrogen target is described. It operates at conditions away from the boiling curve and can therefore absorb considerable (200 mW) power from an accelerator beam without serious boiling. Construction and operation are discussed and several additional advantages are presented.

Target‐driven liquid animation with interfacial discontinuities

Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds, 2007
AbstractWe propose a novel method of controlling a multi‐phase fluid so that it flows into a target shape in a natural way. To preserve the sharp detail of the target shape, we represent it as an implicit function and construct the level‐set of that function.

Refluxing Liquid Hydrogen Target

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1958
A liquid hydrogen target is described which obviates the necessity for the usual liquid nitrogen jacket. No vacuum pump is necessary since the cold hydrogen immediately condenses all the air in the chamber. The target region proper is a cylinder 1.5 in. OD by 3 in. long which is coaxial with the x-ray beam passing through it from the synchrotron. (A.C.)

A thin-walled liquid hydrogen target

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1969
Abstract A double-walled liquid hydrogen target is described. A thin-walled flask containing liquid hydrogen is surrounded by a larger and stronger flask containing gaseous hydrogen. The counter geometry is such that the solid angle available to scattered protons is uniform throughout the volume of the liquid hydrogen and decreases to zero at the ...

Ionic Liquids in the Synthesis of Antioxidant Targeted Compounds

2016
Oxidation of polyunsaturated lipids is a major cause of degradation of the sensory and nutritional quality of food products. The oxidation reactions lead to formation of volatile compounds generally associated with unpleasant flavors, which damages the sensory quality of foods. Lipid oxidation is also responsible for a loss of macro- and micronutrients,
